Info on the course

Apart from the hill climb the course is undulating with well groomed trails. If it’s dry, then fast rolling tyres and firm suspension will be the order of the day. If you go at it hard, and the weather is kind, you could just crack 2 hours. I expect everyone will be finished in less than 4 hours (barring mechanicals).

The course is well marked with tape and direction signs. If you feel you can’t go on for some reason, just sit down and wait, a recovery vehicle will be along soon to get you.

You’ll have mobile phone coverage at Mt Moliagul, but elsewhere you shouldn’t rely on your mobile phone – maybe you’ll have coverage, maybe you won’t. Depends on your service provider.

Marshalling and safety will be provided by the local Rural Fire Service volunteers. There will be a sweep vehicle going around the course, and another vehicle with a mobile mechanic for basic repairs. Don’t rely on this to get to you within minutes. You may wait 5 minutes, you may wait an hour. Like mountain biking in general, self sufficiency is the name of the game here.

Water points

It will be cold but you will warm up during the ride and will definitely need to refuel and rehydrate. There will be water available at the start/finish, as well as at each marshall point. You should provide your own energy bars, fruit, snacks etc for the ride.
